Query Module
We’ve gone from looking at the grand totals into the utilization of a single resource. Now let’s drill down further. Let’s find the patients who had those episodes and see what’s going on.

The Query Module in SmartCare® is where you ultimately dig the deepest. It is where you can not only reach individual episodes-of-care, but then retrieve the individual claim service lines that comprised that episode. In addition, there another entire wing of the Query Module where you can create reports only looking at all of the claim service lines for the whole study. That’s very useful for seeing totals of treatment codes by provider or place of service, or isolating the use of a single type of treatment. In both cases, it’s all done with a highly intuitive, fill-in-the-blanks interface that almost makes it seem like your talking to your data.

The first step, shown here, is formulating your query with this user interface. We’re going to find all of the episodes belonging to that PCP in the Resources Module with the most expensive radiology costs. To run it you just click on the OK button.
